Return to Lucca
Departure From Lucca, directly to Cinque Terre on the Ligurian Coast
After meeting with our Tour Leader in the city area, we will start our Cinque Terre Small Group Tour from Lucca.
The trip from Lucca to the first village will be either Manarola or Riomaggiore and it will take approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Once arrived there you will start the visit of the villages on the National Park together with our Tour Leader, who will be at your disposal during the day.
He/she will tell you nice anecdotes about what you see and advise you about what to do during your free time.
The National Park of Cinque Terre is a protected area stretching for about 15 km along the Eastern Coast of Liguria. In 1997, Unesco defined the area as a World Heritage Site as well as a national park and a marine protected area. During our Day Tour you will have the chance to discover the charming fishing villages all wedged between the cliffs and the sea. They are characterized by their typical pastel colored facades and surrounded by terraced vineyards and olive trees.
You will spend a lovely day discovering the real gems along the Ligurian Riviera.
Ferry-Boat* Experience to Visit Cinque Terre
We will travel by ferry-boat (preferable itinerary weather permitting) or by train, to move from one village to another.
Riomaggiore and Manarola, the southern most villages of the Cinque Terre
Riomaggiore: this is the most southern village of Cinque Terre, situated only a few minutes away by train from the main port of La Spezia.
The town overlooks the sea and its typical stone tower houses developed in height with colorful facades rise on the cliffs. From this village to the adjacent one, Manarola, runs a famous pedestrian street called Via dell’Amore (The Lover’s Lane), a romantic path engraved and carved into the rock connecting the two villages. (Unfortunately, the trail is temporarily closed due to 2011 floods and is therefore under maintenance).
Manarola: this is the second village you’ll find if traveling from the southeast. This is also the oldest village in the Cinque Terre National Park.
You can explore its narrow alleys and pretty squares with colorful tall houses leading down to the small harbor. On the hilly side of the village you can find the Church of San Lorenzo. From the square nearby you can have a nice view over the several terraced vineyards built by humans in the surrounding areas.
The charming village of Vernazza
Many people consider it to be the most fascinating village within the National Park. The village dates back to the year 1000 a.C. and still preserves a small natural harbor. This village is surely worth a visit for the beauty of its historical centre. Indeed you will see elegant arcades, loggias and portals. Moreover you will be able to admire the scenic surrounding area with innumerable olive trees and vineyards terraces.
On the top of the promontory rises the Castle Doria, surmounted by a sighting tower. Climbing up the narrow steps you can get to the castle and from there can enjoy a breath-taking view on the coast until Monterosso, the last village of Cinque Terre National Park.
You will love Monterosso
Monterosso is the biggest of the villages and a small promontory divides it into two smaller bays with the modern town on one side and the old one on the other. On the promontory, you can see the Aurora Tower. This is the only one of the thirteen original towers defending the town, today used as a private house. In Monterosso you also find the biggest beach of the entire coast, with rows of colored umbrellas and locals sunbathing in summer.
This is an antique and beautiful seaside town and its beach is considered one of the most 10 beautiful beaches in the world by Forbes in 2006.

Tour Reviews
We used Bellaitaliatours on a last minute basis (we went to Tuscany – Lucca with no plans – then found the brochure). They were wonderful. The booking was confirmed immediately and I received a pick-up location. Next morning we were picked up by a minivan which accommodated 8 and was very comfortable and clean. Amelia was our guide. Her comic sense along with her concern for our safety and knowledge made our tour memorable. Amelia made sure we stayed connected at all times by arranging our transportation from village to village. Cinque Terra is a beautiful place and coordinating between the 5 villages is no easy feat if you have never been. This was the second time we used Bellaitaliatours and were blessed both times. Way to go Amelia – loved every minute. Ciao Ciao !!!!
The best tour we have made during our holidays in Italy. After the visit to Florence and Pisa, and a day in Tuscany countryside, our hotel concierge suggested us to visit Cinque Terre. It was the best day of our italian summer. With BellaItaliaTour we discovered those wonderful villages on the ligurian coast. Our tour guide was excellent, really friendly and expert. The lunch was great and we also had a bath in the ligurian sea.
We chose bellaitaliatour for our excursion in Cinque Terre from Livorno because we hate crowded tours. We were really satisfied with this choose: the tour was great, the guide was polite, friendly and really expert. No waste of time. No confusion. No crowds. Only a great day in Cinque Terre, with timely return to the cruise ship.

Very well organised. Our tour guide and driver were great. Marta our guide, was friendly, professional & so knowledgeable giving great insight into the history of these beautiful villages. It’s a full day and great value.
We had a wonderful small group tour with Veronica. Veronica is warm friendly and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour.
Good selection of ancient villages and historical landmarks, interesting markets, beautiful coastal landscapes, and good food.
Four of us recently booked a day trip to Cinque Terre. The driver and guide picked us at our hotel and were actually a few minutes early which was fine with us. The driver did a good job and our tour guide was great and very friendly. The van was very clean and comfortable. It was fun day for us and I would highly recommend using this company for any tours which they offer.
