Visit of Florence with our Private Tour from Lucca

We will drive from Lucca through the typical Tuscan landscape. We will reach Florence after about 1 hour. The area around Florence is surrounded by rolling hills, villas and vineyards. We will approach the historic centre and see the old city gate, Porta Romana. Moreover, we will admire the Palazzo Pitti. It was the former residence of the rich Medici family during the 13th century. The Medici ruled for many years. Additionally, they made Florence a powerful city in Italy between the 15th and the 18th century. Indeed, it became symbol of art and culture and even centre of the Renaissance thanks to them. Behind the Palazzo Pitti, you will see the Boboli Gardens with rare plants and a scenic fountain.

Piazza della Signoria in Florence

You will start your Florence and Uffizi or Accademia Private Tour from Lucca in Piazza della Signoria. This is a real open-air museum in the heart of Florence. First, you can find Palazzo Vecchio, the Town Hall of Florence with its impressive tower. Secondly, you find the unique Neptune Fountain and one of the most famous loggias in the world: Loggia dei Lanzi. Public assemblies used to meet under this loggia in the past, but today you find elegant sculptures below its arches. Third, but not last for importance, is the well-known David Statue in front of the Palazzo Vecchio. However, this is not the original statue of Michelangelo. Indeed, the original version is inside the Accademia Museum.

Piazza del Duomo: the artistic heart of Florence

Another great square in Florence is Piazza Duomo. Here you find other unique buildings like the gothic Duomo with its colourful marble façade. Besides, you find the Baptistery. It is famous for its bronze doors, that Michelangelo used to call the Gates of Paradise. Next to the Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore), you can see the famous Giotto’s Bell Tower and the red brick Cupola from Brunelleschi.

The Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia

The Uffizi Gallery is close to Piazza della Signoria. It includes the Vasari Corridor, from Palazzo Vecchio to Palazzo Pitti on the other side of the river. In fact, the Passage crosses Ponte Vecchio and goes through the Boboli Gardens. The Uffizi is one of the most visited art museums in the world. In fact, it holds a big collection of works from the Italian Renaissance. Additionally, you can visit the Accademia Gallery Museum and see the original David statue by Michelangelo.
Certainly, these museums will not disappoint you. Many of the work in the Uffizi Galleries come from the original properties of the Medici. Indeed, most of the family members were art lovers and contributed to develop art and they commissioned many of the incredible pieces you see in museums today.
