Departure from your hotel in Florence directly to the Leaning Tower of Pisa

We have access to most of the districts in Florence. So, we can pick you up from your accomodation. From there, we will drive to Pisa to discover its glorious past as a Maritime Republic. In fact, it got this status together with the cities of Genoa, Venice and Amalfi.

Our first stop will be at the well known Leaning Tower. It is the most famous attraction of this town for its singular position. Indeed, the tower leans today to 13.5 feet. Actually, the tower was perfectly vertical after construction, but it started leaning because of the terrain sinking. In the years, many restorations were done to monitor the situation and correct its position. Probably, you do not know that it its the bell tower of the Cathedral, also belonging to the big complex in Piazza dei Miracoli.

The Tower and the buildings in this square belong to UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Piazza Dei Miracoli and much more on our Private Tour in Pisa

Even if the Leaning Tower of Pisa made it famous everywhere, the city features much more. After our stop in Piazza dei Miracoli, we will drive to the historical centre. There you will admire the second most important square in Pisa, Piazza Dei Cavalieri, with a stunning facade designed by Giorgio Vasari. Moreover, you will admire the Lungarno, the area along the river Arno, full of elegant palaces and shops. Here, we can stop for a good gelato (ice cream) if you wish. Besides the picturesque old streets and elegant palaces, Pisa is also a very big academic centre and many students move here from other Italian regions to study. The most popular university is La Normale, founded by Napoleon.

Visit a pasta factory and learn about pasta making

martelli pasta pisa tour by bellaitaliatourDuring our tour, we will stop at a traditional pasta factory in the counnty of Pisa: Pastificio Martelli. As you probably already know, we love pasta and we have a name for each kind of it. Since pasta is part of our tradition, we think it can be very interesting to visit a real pasta factory and learn about the pasta making process from real experts. The Martelli family started working here in 1926 and today their yellow pasta packages are quite known. This pasta factory works according to the traditional methods, without using modern machinery. Indeed, even the final packages are packed by hand. Ps: we remind you that it is not just a touristic place. For this reason, the pasta factory is closed on Sundays and during holidays.
