From your accommodation in Montecatini to the heart of Tuscany on our private tour
Our Private Tour to Siena-San Gimignano-Chianti from Montecatini will start from your accomodation. Our driver will pick you up and you will board our comfortable minivan. In order to reach the historical towns of San Gimignano and Siena, we will drive through the very scenic Tuscan countryside. The trip from Montecatini to San Gimignano will take approximatly 1 hour and 15 minutes. From there, the town of Siena is about 40 km far.
San Gimignano and its historical towers
Once we get closer to San Gimignano, you will understand why many people used to call it the Manhattan of the Middle Ages.
Indeed, the town features a medieval skyline. The view over this hilltop town is unmistakable. Today you can see 14 towers rising from the hill, but in the past there were more than 70. They meant to symbolize wealth and prosperity. In fact, this was quite a flourishing centre at medieval times, when many pilgrims used to walk through San Gimignano in order to get to Rome. The pilgrim route called Via Francigena started in Canterbury and through France and Switzerland brought many travelers to the eternal city. The town is famous nowadays for the production of the Vernaccia (a local white wine) and saffron. The surrounding area is full of vineyards and olive trees.
San Gimignano, from art to good wines.
Discover Siena and its ancient history
After spending some time in San Gimignano, we will drive to another medieval jewel in the heart of Tuscany, Siena. This town is rich in art and history and, like the smaller San Gimignano, it belongs to the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. A very old tradition is celebrated twice a year in the several town districts, the Palio di Siena. It is about a horse race taking place in its main square, Piazza del Campo. This competition has very old roots and locals prepare for this event the whole year round. The entire city develops around the main square, with nice narrow streets and brick buildings.
Also in Siena, you will feel like time has stopped for the very medieval atmosphere you can breath withing its old walls.
Three attractions you can not miss in Siena
If you go to Siena, you should absolutely see at least some of its main attractions. First of all, the above mentioned Piazza del Campo. In this square you can admire important works of art, like the tower  Torre del Mangia, next to the town hall. Moreover, you find in this square a marvellous marble fountain. Secondly, the Cathedral of Siena. The Duomo of Santa Maria Assunta has a stunning striped white and dark green facade. In addition, beautiful decorations and a superb foor are inside the building, together with a crypt. Third of all, the Baptistery, that was built in 1300. Inside you find a precious baptismal font created by some great Renaissance sculptors.

Choose our private tour to taste good Tuscan wines in the Chianti Region
A visit in Tuscany must always include a wine tasting. Our Chianti Region is the perfect place where to taste authentic Tuscan wines and enjoy the suggestive landscape. You will have the chance to learn more about wine and to enjoy a unique tasting inside an ageing cellar. However, to make an Italian wine tasting complete, it is important to combine it with local products and a taste of genuine Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil, produced with local olives only.
