How to visit Cinque Terre.

From the Cruise Terminal in La Spezia you will walk to the railway station with our tour leader to take a train to the first village. Once within the Cinque Terre region, we will preferably move by ferryboat, but that is subject to weather conditions. In case of rough sea and ferryboat not working, you will have to travel by train. In that case, our tour leader could modify the order of the visits and/or the itinerary. *For example, in Portovenere there is no train station, that means it is possible to get there only by ferryboat. We usually travel from South to North and visit the villages in this order: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare.

The villages we are going to visit have surely something in common for their beauty. However, it is also true that each of them features something special and unique compared to others. For example, the sandy beach in Monterosso is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world (Forbes 2006).

Regular Itinerary (subject to weather conditions) from La Spezia Cruise Terminal:

Departure From Cruise Port of La Spezia

9:00 am (Depending on cruise ship arrival) – At your arrival in the Port of La Spezia, you will find our Tour Leader just outside the Cruise Terminal, on the left, holding a sign with your name written on it. From here will start your tour. You will walk from the Cruise Terminal to the Railway Station in La Spezia (about 20 minutes walk). You will take a train to reach the first village of our tour.

Visit Riomaggiore or Manarola

Depending on the weather, you will stop firts in Riomaggiore or Manarola. Riomaggiore and Manarola are the southermost of the Cinque Terre. Manarola is among all of them the oldest one. In both of them, you willl find colourful houses and nice narrow streets. From here on, you will move from one village to the other one by ferryboat (preferable choice, weather permitting).Ferry-boats are the BEST WAY to Visit Cinque Terre.

Stop in the Village of Vernazza

Visit Vernazza. According to many, this is the most beautiful village in the Cinque Terre. It features a natural harbour, a castle and a small church.

Stop in the last Village of Monterosso al Mare

Stop at the last village of Monterosso al Mare. This is the biggest of the Cinque Terre. A promontory divides the town in two parts. On one side (the newest one), you find a nice sandy beach (Fegina Beach). On the other side, you find the old town with plenty of restaurants, bars and local shops. You will have free time for lunch (not included). From here, we will use the train or a ferryboat in order to go back.

Go back in La Spezia

We will use train in order to reach La Spezia city and from here you will have 20 minutes walk to reach the Cruise Terminal.
