Discover Lucca with our Private Day Tour from La Spezia
We will continue the tour visiting Lucca, hometown of the musical composer Giacomo Puccini. In Lucca you will visit the Cathedral, visited by many pilgrims in the Middle Ages. The reason of their visit is the legendary wooden crucifix, the Holy face. It is said that it was carved by Nicodemus himself before the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Additionally, you will see the Church of San Michele (St. Michael) and Fillungo, the most important shopping street in town. Our guide will show you the singular Torre Guinigi (also called the Green Tower for the oak tree on its top) and the Clock Tower. You will admire also the incredible Piazza dell’Anfiteatro, the rounded square wit the shape of the old Roman Amphitheatre. If you like, you can see Lucca from a different perspective riding a bike on the medieval walls surronding the old town (optional).
Free Time for shopping in Lucca
If you love shopping, Lucca is the perfect place. In most of the streets of the historical centre, cars are not allowed and in this pedestrian area you find many shops. Our staff will pleased to suggest you where to go. Fillungo is one of the main shopping streets, full of artesan’s shops, bars and restaurants as well.
Exclusive Wine Tasting Experience on our Private Day Tour
In the afternoon, the tour will continue in a charming medieval village on the hill overlooking Lucca.
Here you can taste good wine in a very relaxing atmosphere and surrounded by the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The glasses of wine will be combined to local products and some extra virgin olive oil. In addition, an expert will tell you the secrets of the winemaking in this property. The area is famous for the red Sangiovese and the white Trebbiano Toscano, but in these lands you can find also other local red varieties like Ciliegiolo and Colorino, as well as the Bordeaux trio of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Our wines will delight you!

Tour Reviews
Gathered 3 other couples and booked this tour with BellaItalia direct. Our Driver/Guide Simone was early for a 7:45AM pickup. A beautiful new Mercedes Sprinter van. Very comfortable for 8 people. Arrived early in Pisa, before the mob. They were arriving as we were leaving. On to Lucca, the town is very easy to walk, and Simone met us on the other side. Lunch there at Alice’s Pizza was excellent. Pizza by weight was amazing. On to the winery, it was gorgeous. The wine was excellent. The best excursion of our whole Celebrity cruise. Simone is a really great driver and guide. She used to drive a school bus, so she can handle 8 tourists. Can I give it 6 stars?
