Discover the medieval San Gimignano on our Private Day Tour
Our first stop will be San Gimignano, a small walled medieval hill town in the province of Siena. Locals use to call it the Manhattan of the The Middle Ages, because the town is surrounded by 13 medieval towers. They were symbol of power and wealth in the past. Indeed the most important merchant families used to build high towers to show their economic stability. But San Gimignano will surprise you not only for its long history. Due to the many vinyards and olive trees in the area, also gastronomy is very important here. For this reason, we suggest to stop in one of the many wine shop of the village to taste the white wine Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Therefore other typical products you should not miss are saffron and the singular Golden Ham (dry-cured ham with saffron).

Our guide will tell you about the history of the town and of its most famous buildings. Firts of all Piazza della Cisterna, the main square of the town. Secondly Piazza Duomo with the Collegiata Cathedral and its bell tower. Last but not least, the Church of Sant’Agostino, housing many artworks from early Italian Renaissance.
