Bolgheri is a beautiful medieval village in the town of Castagneto Carducci, situated along the Etruscan coast. It is famous for its Viale dei Cipressi (Avenue of Cypresses), described so eloquently in the poem by the Giosuè Carducci, the first Italian poet to win the Nobel Prize in Literature. In this avenue there are 2347 cypresses, making the landscape really unique.

Bolgheri is also famous for it’s high quality, sophisticated wines made in the traditional Tuscan way.  The most famous wines of this region are Sassicaia, Ornellaia and Tignanello. In particular, Bolgheri became famous worldwide after the 1974, when a 6-year-old Sassicaia won a prize from the international magazine Decanter, beating a wide assortment of Bordeaux.

In 1994, the region obtained the DOC regulation for the wines Bolgheri Rosso and Rosso Superiore, the Super Tuscan wines produced in this region. The main ingredients of the wine are the Bordeaux trio (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot); Syrah and the traditional Tuscan grape, Sangiovese, are also used in the making of Bolgheri wine.

These wines received various worldwide recognitions and prizes for their excellent quality.

The small production makes these wines really expensive and really difficult to export, so you can taste them only in local wineries, maybe with us.
