Exclusive Guided Walking Tour To Visit Pisa and Discover Its Leaning Tower
An Expert Local Guide Will let You Admire The Most Beautiful Places in Pisa
Not Only the Leaning Tower: Discover all The Secrets of This Tuscan City
While the bell tower of the Cathedral, well known all over the world as “the leaning Tower of Pisa”, is the most famous monument of the city (and also a notourious image of the Italy in the world), it is only one of many works of art and architecture that you can admire by walking in Pisa (with an expert guide).
The Historic Centre: The Beating Heart of Pisa
From our meeting point, our expert guide will lead you through the Historic Centre of Pisa. We will take you along Via S.Maria, with its superb late renaissance palaces, built over the skeletons of medieval tower houses. Our guide will let you relive the old times simply by telling you the history of each place.
Proceeding towards the historic centre of Pisa, you will visit the XI century small church of St. Sixtus, that is nearby the superb Knights’ Square (Piazza dei Cavalieri). This square was designed and remodelled by Giorgio Vasari in the XVI century to host the headquarters of the Order of the Knights of Saint Stephen, founded by Cosimo de Medici in 1561.
Borgo Stretto, the Arno River and the Lungarni
Then you will finally reach Borgo Stretto, the real medieval heart of Pisa, with its beautiful palaces and arcades. Here you will see the house where Galileo Galilei was born and you can also admire the Gothic-Romanesque church of San Michele in Borgo (990).
From here you will then reach the Arno River, where we will finally cross the Middle Bridge to enjoy a real amazing view of the Arno’s riversides, the so called Lungarni. From there begins the way back to the Square of Miracles, passing throughout medieval little streets.
Finally Square of Miracles and the Leaning Tower of Pisa
Once across the medieval walls that surround the area, we will enter in Square of Miracles (Piazza dei Miracoli), also known as Piazza del Duomo, because it houses the Duomo of Pisa (the marvellous Cathedral), entirely builded with white marble. This square also houses the Bell Tower of the Cathedral, better known as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Baptistery and the Monumental Cemetery (Campo Santo).
Our guide will let you discover every secret of these beautiful monuments, focusing especially on the famous leaning tower, that you can visit from inside. After the bell tower, our guide will lead you inside the Duomo, explaining you every aspect of its unique architecture and describing the most famous paintings that you will admire inside.
